  • Koji is a traditional Japanese fermented ingredient made from rice. It has been used for over 1,000 years to make foods like miso, soy sauce, and sake.

Often called a traditional Japanese superfood, koji contains natural enzymes that help break down nutrients, making food easier to digest while enhancing flavor.

We use a small amount of koji to gently marinate ingredients — adding natural umami and supporting digestion in a simple, natural way.

  • Unfortunately, we currently do not have a storefront. We do sell our treats at Dean & Deluca Hawaii located in Kaka'ako.

We also pop-up at local events! Please follow our Instagram (@maruandthecompany) for updates.

  • Yes, our treats are made with human-safe ingredients — but they’re formulated for dogs.

  • Our freeze-dried treats vary in texture depending on the type.

Sweet Potato has a hard crunchy texture, whereas our Kabocha, Umami Chicken and Shiitake Meatloaf is less hard, but still crunchy! Our treats can be easily broken apart with your fingertips to make smaller pieces.

Over a long period of time moisture may be absorbed into the treats once opened. We suggest to use the treats within 60 days, if you would like to keep the crunchy texture.

  • We suggest giving in small amounts to slowly introduce to your puppy. Although, we highly recommend checking with your vet for puppies under 6 months.
